Tensions flared in New York City as Pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with the NYPD near the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. My plans to witness the annual event were cut short by the No Backpack Rule, forcing me to turn back toward 5th Avenue, where I encountered a large demonstration gathering for the protest.

As the march began, tensions escalated, prompting the NYPD to install traffic barriers, leading to a chaotic and intense standoff. Through my lens, I captured the unfolding events—from the initial gathering to the height of the confrontation.

Street Photography Adventure Along the East River Greenway

Our street photography journey begins under the FDR along the East River Greenway, with a focus on capturing iconic shots of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. 🚶‍♂️📸

After taking the ferry from Brooklyn to Pier 11 in Manhattan, I set out eastbound beneath the FDR, ready to capture the essence of these historic landmarks. However, ongoing construction and fencing in the area interfered with some of the shots. Despite this, the photographic journey was still full of potential, and I’ll be sure to revisit and reshoot once the work is complete.

At times intense, but overall, the scene remains surprisingly calm.

As police moved in, tensions rose, and the crowd began to disperse—leading to a few arrests. 🚔 A private school teacher on site shared that public school students have been involved in daily altercations.
